yea the problem with the back step parry is that the guy i up against just steam roles forward with the cleanest combos so there is no gap!!!

One i tried the other day which i think could be good is-
Step to the opposing side to the punch, drop and step through a wide body hook, letting it catch when ur level. and the follow through with either a roundhouse to the head, or a teap kick as they already have to moving momentum.
