Its a great idea but it cant I dont think. Or can it? the others are points based MMA is not apart from rounds awarded. Lets break them down.

Judo - points based. Awarded through Ippon for submission, pin or major throw - finishes bout, indicates KO etc. other points for other stuff.

Boxing - points based through punch count etc, or of course KO.

Taekwando - points based as in shotokan karate I guess, or KO.

Wrestling - Pin or submission based? Again points through throw to back etc.

So MMA - Yes submission or KO based like the others. But all the others have a scoring system too. MMA would need to show a system whereby points are scored accumulatively throughout - by effective unblocked strikes, Throws to back etc. But its difficult with no fixed technical style.

Good idea though if it can be engineered correctly. The world needs to see MMA is not vicious, it is technical and skillful - and above all a sport not a streetfight.

Plus, there is nothing better for kids to learn I dont think. Apart from perhaps Judo.
