Im determined not to count grams or calories properly as I train and try to lose weight did it for years even when cheating on diets or not really dieting. I was always mindful and writing it down.

This time its about exercise NOT diet for me.

I am trying to lose 2 stone! I am 16st 9 and want to be 14st 9lbs! ie MMA Light-heavyweight limit. Seemed like a good idea. By the time im that weight ill be well into my MMA learning and fitness will be full on. I imagine to get there I will need to lose a little muscle - probably around my glutes and thighs, but will also need to be ripped. So for now Im just massively upping cardio, training bodyweight hard with the beast skills and eating clean...ish.

And I cant wait to start MMA but my rib is still so bad and the twins aren't out yet!

Training has been good. Today was great:

Cycled to station initially. 2 miles downhill, 6 mins heart rate approx 150bpm.
Then after a quick ten min walk/jog from the tube station in the gym for circuit training. 3 x circuits of the following:

10 x 5+ hit bag combos full power with 8 limbs.
15 press ups on knuckles
5 pull ups
40 leg to leg jumping lunges
10 crunches
6 hang clean and press @45kg.

At about 90% effort with regards to pace in between exercises around the circuit.
Eah circuit took 6 mins with 2 mins rest in between. Working towards 5 mins 100% all out as hard as I possibly can with 1 minute rest in between for 5 rounds – a la MMA rounds basis.

Cycling home from station later. 2 miles UPhill. Aiming for 10mins.

Just have to say im loving this new training. Im going to really transform myself. Cant wait to be ripped, fit and light. And an MMA fighter!
Need to get on the mat and learn and train.

Hi James,

Sounds like you training is going well and you seem really motivated, something im having a problem with. lol

Yeah id love to get involved in a bit of MMA training with you and jarrod, I seriously need a bit of a kick up the arse and im looking to train with some people to get me back into it.

I miss going to MMA training but I had to sell my motorbike and its just impossible for me to get from basildon to southend for 6pm in a car. I need to find somewhere closer or another idea i had was to maybe hire a mat or space at a gym somewhere and get a few of us together with someone experienced and just train together?

I know Jarrod would be up for it so if you fancy it too I ll look into it. I have spoken to a while ago and he was up for giving me some one on lessons so im sure he wouldnt have a problem if there were 4 of us. I ll have a chat with him.

Anyway fella, keep up the good work and I ll keep you posted!!

Sounds good mate. Though im concerned private lessons will break the bank! Even if we cant get an instructor, just getting together grappling full on and trying out new stuff and practicing what we've learnt would be excellent for development and excellent for fitness. Like they say you have to fight to get better at it and fitter for it. Can you get to canvey for training? Good mma Dojo down there. Thats where ill be going. Find out about hiring a spot and mats then mate. I think they're a lot to buy. But getting together and spar grappling going to 5min rounds or to submission will be excellent. I've been learning some no-gi adaptations of some Judo throws. We'll read, practice, learn from a master and nail it!

Well see thats the cool thing, we aint gotta pay him anything. We would just have to chip in to hire the space etc.

Canvey is fine, just depends on what time the training is coz as you know, Canvey is a bitch to get to in rush hour.

Im seeing Jarrod tonight so will speak to him too and see if he is up for it to.

Please note, regarding the exotic supplements I mentioned above.

I sent them back without opening. Whether they were legal or not I have decided to maintain my natural status in case I ever do decide to compete on a natural bodybuilding/strongman stage.

Plus you never know when they will implicate drug testing in MMA, or to what level you will get to in other martial arts ie Judo where drug testing is in place with WADA at the top.
